Program Description

This program combines classroom and practical hands-on experiences developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Students will receive training for Carpentry Level One with key elements of Carpentry Level Two.

Students will be equipped with their own toolbox including hand-tools and PPE that they keep upon completion.

  • Hand and Power Tools. Contact Hours: 7.5
  • Introduction to Building Envelope Systems. Contact Hours: 12.5
  • Introduction to Construction Drawings, Specifications, and Layout. Contact Hours: 20

  • Orientation to the trade. Contact hours: 5
  • Roofing Applications. Contact Hours: 25

Graduates who successfully complete the course have the opportunity to earn the following certifications or certificates.

Prerequisites for Enrollment
  • 18 Years of Age or Older
  • DOT Equivalent Drug Test (If accepted, test can be done no more than 10 days before class begins)
  • Hard-toed work boots or similar
  • Pre-Participation Physical

  • Valid Alaska Driver's License or State Issued Photo ID Card
