About Us

Northern Industrial Training, LLC (NIT) located in Palmer, AK, is a privately owned, serving the public, vocational training center specializing in professional truck driving, heavy equipment, National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) construction building trades, NCCER oil and gas pipeline, hazardous materials, and mine safety training programs.  NIT was established by its parent company (Alaska Transportation Services, an Alaska based company since 1996) as a response to the growing demands from the Transportation, Oil & Gas, and Construction industries. NIT was founded with the concept of providing classroom and hands on training to not meet but exceed basic requirements for the people of Alaska.  Newly designed training programs allow us to provide this high quality in all of our target fields enabling graduates to succeed at employment in their chosen careers.

Our programs are approved by the Alaska Commission on Post-Secondary Education and the Department of Motor Vehicles. NIT is a nationally recognized NCCER training sponsor and offers a Professional Truck Driving Institute (PTDI) certified program. In addition to serving the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, NIT is authorized to conduct CDL testing and offer training programs throughout Alaska.  NIT is member of the National Safety Council, and Alaska Trucking Association, Associated Builders & Contractors, and Alaska General Contractors. NIT is on the State of Alaska Eligible Training Providers List for State and Federal funds and accepts Alaska Student Loans (apply online at www.alaskaadvantage.state.ak.us).
