Course Description
Students receive supervised, direct hands on operation of the equipment with classroom instruction in principles of operation, work site safety and preventive maintenance procedures.
Training equipment typically* includes Class A and B vehicles, excavator, dozer, backhoe, and/or loader. Students will have the opportunity to test on and receive certifications for individual pieces of equipment that are tested on. Testing will be provided for the CDL A or CDL B. (*Equipment pieces subject to substitution.)

- Driver Training - 15 Days:
- CDL manual training and terminology
- Alaska Hours of Service and Log Book training
- Extreme driving conditions
- Vehicle inspections/coupling and uncoupling
- Behind the wheel exercises
- Evaluations
- Heavy Equipment Operation - 15 Days:
- Orientation/History/Intro
- Introduction to grade checking & surveying
- Equipment Overview/Safety/Tests/Videos
- Preventative maintenance/servicing
- Equipment Field operations/Grade staking/grade checking
Prerequisites
- DOT Physical
- DMV Driving Record
- FMCSA/DOT Drug Test
- Original Social Security Card
- Valid Drivers License for 12 Consecutive Months
- Steel Toed Boots

- DMV - CDL License Fee $100
- TSA - Haz Mat Endorsement Fee $86.50
