STEP Structural Welding

Northern Industrial Training (NIT) has been awarded a grant from the State Training & Employment Protram (STEP)

 

NIT is currently recruiting participants for an 8 Week Structural Welding program. We are excited to work with our supporting partners and provide this valuable training.

Dates: April 02 - May 25, 2012
Location: Palmer, AK 
Time: 8:30 – 4:30pm daily

Application Deadline: March 23, 2012

The course will focus on the specific tools, functions and techniques of the welding trade.  Hands on training will cover SMAW and FCAW 3G and 4G welding positions.  All students will have the opportunity to test for their welding certifications.

Pre-requisites for the 8 Week Structural Welding Program:

  1. DOT or Fitness Physical is required (not grant sponsored) 
  2. FMCSA/DOT Drug Test is required (not grant sponsored) 
  3. HS Diploma or GED 
  4. Must be at least 19 years of age 
  5. Alaska Driver’s License 
  6. Copy of 2009, 2010 or 2011 W-2 
  7. If employed: Employer must complete the Employer Verification Form 
  8. If unemployed: must have contributed into Unemployment Insurance benefits in the past 5 years 
  9. Copy of most recent paystub or UI checkstub/direct deposit notice 
  10. Letter of recommendation 
  11. Be free of a criminal history that would prevent obtaining employment in the oil and gas industry or construction field. 
  12. Hard-toe or steel-toe work boots - these will not be provided by the grant. 
  13. Completed STEP Welding Application (see link below)

There is no cost to the applicant. Tuition, books, and materials fees are covered by the grant.
