Northern Industrial Training accepts the Alaska Student Loan (for programs 6 weeks in length or longer), Native Corporation and Village Council funding and scholarships, State of Alaska programs (WIA and DVR) and Department of Veteran Affairs. We have a Tuition Payment Plan offered through NIT that students can apply for.
Funding confirmation (for all training related expenses) must be received no later than 10 days prior to the start of class to be enrolled into the program. Written confirmation may be faxed to (907) 357-6430 or emailed to michele(at)nitalaska.com.
Tuition Payment Plan
By joining the Northern Industrial Training Payment Plan you are able to pay your training program tuition and fees in convenient monthly payments. By planning early, you can add your training program payments to your monthly household budget. The plan is administered by NIT and a third party billing service, Tuition Options. Alaska Advantage Loan Program (Alaska Student Loan) (for programs that are 6 Weeks in length or longer) The Alaska Supplemental Education Loan (ASEL) provides funding to cover educational expenses for qualified students attending postsecondary institutions in Alaska and qualified Alaska residents attending postsecondary institutions outside Alaska.

The 2010 – 2011 annual loan limit for a Career Training (Vocational) program is $6,500.00. Please allow Alaska Advantage a minimum of 2 – 3 weeks to process your loan request. Applicant must submit a copy of their loan approval document to Northern Industrial Training prior to the start of training.
Alaska Native Scholarships:
Many Native Corporations and Village Councils will provide Scholarships for Alaskan Native & Indians who wish to pursue vocational training. Please contact your Corporation or Council and allow a minimum of 30 – 45 days for approval of your scholarship. Written confirmation of funding for each scholarship awarded must be submitted to Northern Industrial Training 10 days prior to the start of training.
Department of Veteran Affairs
Veterans Administration – Veterans wishing to use their Post 9/11 – GI Bill Education Benefits to pursue vocational training must contact VA directly to determine their eligibility. Applicants must submit a copy of their Certificate of Eligibility to Northern Industrial Training after their application for benefits is processed through the VA prior to the start of training.

State of Alaska - Job Center Contact Information
Department of Labor, Vocational Rehabilitation and other employment resources can assist with applications and job placement after your training. Workforce Investment Act (WIA) provides funding for individuals who have insufficient skills to obtain an adequate job or lack current skills to maintain their present position as well as providing funding for people with employment barriers. Their goal is for you to obtain a job in the occupation of the training your recieve upon completion of that training.
